Christinas Baby Shower
While daddy was out of town, Rowyn and I went to a baby shower in honor of Christina(my step-sister-in law)...We had a great time and Rowyn got to spend time with Gigi(johanna)
Chris went to Missouri last week for his annual hunting trip. See his Buck. He came home with this little gift for Rowyn. It keeps her nice and toasty when we sit out by the campfire at night at daddys other deer lease in Miles, TX.

11-19-08 Girls Night Out
We girls have been getting together for monthly "Girls Night Out"
We go and have dinner and watch a movie, No Kids! It's such a much needed break.
The first time out we went to Margarita Ranch at Mockingbird Station.(click on pic to go to site)
We shared a bunch of appetizers and had some margaritas.
Then we walked right up the stairs to see The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.(click on the picture to view the movie trailer)
It was a really good movie.
But we were all ticked off about the ending.

Written 11-13-08...
I talked with Amber earlier today...
I asked how she was doing...
"How are you doing"
"I know that you are going to say, fine, but really, how are you doing?"
She replied:
"Falling apart at the seams. "
"I have talked with Uncle Larry and dad today and mom and every time I speak or write I cry. I am going to my parents house tomorrow after work to get some rest and clear my head. I can't be strong and support Justin if all I do is cry which makes him feel bad and worry about me. But I know it will all be okay in the end I thing I don't know is what okay will be. The doctors have not said what there plan of action will be but he has chronic rejection and there is two possible ways to stop it. One is dialysis like cancer pt.'s go thru and the other is a 2nd transplant.
He may not qualify for the 2nd transplant due to kidney function. but who knows. or maybe just maybe I am right and the blood clot in this lungs is what's causing the problems. That's what I hope is going on, They are talking about giving him a stronger blood clot medicine to speed up the process. We have also told the dr.'s that we ant to be home for thanksgiving even if it's just for a day. So hopefully they can figure it out and make it happen." Amber
Chris and I have talked several times about this, and about how we can help...
We decided that we would like to try to take some of the burden off of Amber and Justin.
We know that we can not relate to what they are going through emotionally, but have decided to try to help financially.
I can only imagine the bills that are piling in on them... and on top of that they just bought a new house...
We have budgeted $500.00 to give to them... We have decided to send $100.00 to them once a month for 5 months.
I am not sharing this with you to say...
"Look what I have done."
but to ask
"Can you do the same?"
The amount doesn't have to be the same, because I am sure that any amount will help...
I hope that you don't dismiss me for being tacky and asking you for money, because to put it very simply...
I don't really care...

You’re never too young to be a winner
Mabank midget football team headed to play-off
DEVYN GIBBS IS #8...
By ART LAWLER
The Mabank Panthers (the Midget-League variety) pose for a team picture with their coaches. The team goes to the playoffs this week against the Forney Jackrabbits in Kaufman. If the Panthers survive, they’ll play in the Super Bowl, also in Kaufman, a week from Saturday. Courtesy photo/ (Click for larger image)
Though you can’t really see them between their colliding helmets and shoulder pads, real people exist inside the colorful uniforms of Mabank’s midget-league football teams.
The Mabank Panthers, no less, are in the playoffs. The little ones. Not the big ones.
You didn’t know first and second graders, ages six and seven, now go to the football playoffs, just like the big boys.
That’s right. It’s helmets on top of shoulder pads, on top of football shoes.
You didn’t know first and second graders, ages six and seven, play contact football?
Shoot, the little boys are just like the big boys.
Make that like the big boys and the big girls.
The quarterback on this team is Brianna Martin.
She wears jersey No. 1.
Boy or girl, they’re all part of the Mabank Little League Football Association.
The Panthers compiled a 6-1-1 season record, and will be going to Kaufman for a playoff tournament beginning at 11 a.m. against the Forney Jackrabbits.
The survivors Saturday go to — are you ready for this — The Super Bowl.
Both playoff and Super Bowl games will be played at the Kaufman High School Stadium the next two weekends.
The playoffs games are on Saturday, Nov. 15, and the Super Bowl is set for Nov. 22.
Yes, sometimes the little ones get hurt. Nothing serious, but a tear or two may have to be dried from the tough little faces, on occasion.
The Panthers were just one of the teams from the Tri-County area performing in t he league.
Other communities involved in the play-offs are Eustace, Kaufman, Wills Point, Kemp, Malakoff, and two Forney teams, the Longhorns and the Jackrabbits, and Quinlan.
This league also has homecoming games,
The Saturday games during the regular-season begin at 4 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
They have cheerleaders and drill teams and halftime shows., too.
The Panthers are coached by Dean Gibbs, an employee of Mabank ISD, though the league has no affiliation with the district.
Admission is $1 for students and $3 for adults.
For more information, call Mike Cathey: 880-8211.

Stretching your Dollar - Kids eat Free
If you haven't planned dinner yet, we can point you to some places where you can stretch your family's dining budget, by getting food for free.
Since 1941, North Texas families have been coming to Dickey's for BBQ.
And for about three years, they've come every Sunday because kids eat free.
The economy has more families looking for that savings.
The deal takes place at Sunday at all Dickey's, although some locations do it Tuesdays, too.
"It is a generator. We build customers off of that. People come back during the week, come back without their children," said TD Dickey.
With a little planning - families can hit the deals all week long.
•Monday - Backyard Burgers.
•Tuesdays after 5 p.m. at Black Eyed Pea locations.
•Luby's feeds kids under 10 for just $2 on Wednesdays.
•Hit an IHOP (only at some locations) on Thursdays and get one free kids' item for every adult entree.
•Kids eat free Saturdays and Sundays at Humperdinks.
At Dickey's, without the deal, a parent would pay $14.58 to feed themself and a child.
On kids-eat-free night, it's $10.26, more than a $4 savings.
And with most kids-eat-free deals unadvertised - spread just by word of mouth - people are sharing the tips online.
It's an appetizing way to stretch those dollars.

Pregnancy Wedge Pillows
Ever since Rowyn was diagnosed with positional plagiocephaly we have had to come up with some really clever ways to keep her off of her little head. The thing that has worked the best for us is suprisingly...pregnancy wedges... yea, those little $12 wedge pillows, that you buy when you are pregnant, to sleep with under your belly... yea... ingenious!...ps: the top two pics, she normally is holding her head up, but she was looking around following mommy with the camera.
I just wanted to pass on this note to anyone, who reads our blog and may be dealing with the same issues.
We also got this incline sleeper(turned it sideways) with removable positioners, see them wedged into the back of her crib, this keeps her from scootin up into the rails and bumping her head and waking her self up...anyways, we got this for her to sleep on, so when she falls asleep her head will automatically fall to the right...spiffy! huh?
